| In the last years of Qing Dynasty, Maotai became the most well-known trading port. Hua Lianhui and Shi Rongxiao set up Chengyi and Ronghe workshops and made Moutai Shao rise again after the war's damage. ”Moutai Shao Chun”, made with traditional technology by Chengyi, won the gold medal with its unique mellowness at Panama Pan-world Fair in U.S.A. in 1915. Since then, it has become one of the three most famous liquors in the world along with Scotch Whisky and Cognac Brandy.
In 1951, the government purchased the three private workshops producing Moutai namely Chengyi, Ronghe and Hengxin, and set up the state-run Moutai Distillery. Growing together with the new China, Moutai Distillery has achieved great progress in the combination of traditional technology with modern science and management. Now it has developed into the sole extra large enterprise in the national liquor trade. In July, 1996, Moutai Distillery reorganized to be Moutai Distillery (Group) Co., Ltd. Ratified by the government of Guizhou.
To satisfy the demands of the customers both at home and abroad, the group developed a lot of new series of products, such as low degree Moutai Liquor, Guizhou Chun, Moutai Queen, Moutai Chun, etc.
Now Moutai Distillery Group has built up a fairly perfect sales network all over the country. Following the establishment of modern enterprise system, the group is to further liberate the idea and develop with higher target and faster speed. |
